Tired of battles, X decided to retire and leave the fight to Zero. After the event of X, crime in new cities increased, a group claiming to be Red Alert also joined the fight against criminals, but one member of the group – Axl asked to withdraw. Red – the leader angry and try to bring Axl back.

In battles, you will control either Zero or Axl in the journey to rescue the Reploids. Also, you can unlock familiar characters X when rescuing 64 or more replies.
